I’m ready for Spring! Are you?
Living in the northeast and experiencing all four seasons of weather is often a source of inspiration for me as I move through my own journey of personal growth and transformation. I wanted to share the beauty of how the trees, plants and flowers cycling through the seasons with ease can relate to you as well.
We have seasonal life cycles. Sometimes we cycle quickly, while other times the cycles may take a while. Truthfully, I feel like I’ve been in Winter for years! However, it is important to understand that each life season provides different lessons and new areas for growth. Some seasons may feel easy and light, while others may feel more burdensome. Embracing each life season, and knowing that each is transient, allows us to move through our cycles gracefully.
Fall: The life season of Fall is one of change. It can present as an awareness that something in your life needs to change, an anticipation of something that you are looking to change, or it can present as an unexpected or even shocking change. Because of the nature of change, Fall becomes the season of letting go with ease (like the leaves changing color and falling without struggle). To you letting go might feel like releasing old hopes, old dreams, old thoughts, old habits, relationships or situations.
Winter: The life season of Winter is one of drawing inward (like the perennial bulbs that bring all the nutrients back to bulb for the winter). It tends to be a season of deep reflection and healing—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. During Winter patience, compassion towards yourself and self care are essential. Winter also becomes a time to create new visions. It’s a time to redirect aspects of your life to reflect the goals and values of who you are today.
Spring: The life season of Spring is one of hope and excitement for something new (noticing the new buds or the first crocuses is always a thrill). Spring is the season of being open to new possibilities, taking action and being willing to say yes when a new opportunity presents itself. It is when the visions of Winter begin to bloom which can present as cultivating a new friendship, starting a new job, taking up a new hobby, or planning a new project.
Summer: The life season of Summer is one of abundance and celebration (the flowers and trees are plush and in full bloom). During Summer we continue with our good habits, we enjoy our success, and we take pride in our accomplishments. For me, Summer is the full expression of our whole authentic selves. We are happy, joyful, confident and radiant.
As for me, I wasn’t kidding when I said I think I’ve been in Winter for years!
Six years ago a relationship ended unexpectedly and abruptly—his infidelity and deceptions (probably not a story for another time). Once I went through the Fall of letting go, the break up left me doubtful of my future, doubtful of men, and doubtful in my ability to be in a loving relationship ever again. I stopped socializing like I used to—the pandemic made that easier for me—and I stopped entertaining anyone other than my family in my home.
Life was easier just me, my kids and my dog(s)…right? So, I dug deep into that belief and directed my energy inward.
Whenever I thought I might be ready to move into Spring, the Universe said NO—-the pandemic, financial struggles, and relationships that I needed to heal. Last year I had my shoulder surgery and the heart attack–more emotional and physical healing. Again, it was just easier to conserve my energy and focus my attention inward.
However, my season of Winter was one where I defined my next purpose, my next chapter, and the newest vision of my future. It was early in my Winter that I became a coach. I knew that at some point I would retire from Anesthesia (not yet!) and support myself completely as a full-time coach. My vision is vivid—where I’m living, my clients, and the many offerings I will be sharing with the world. Whether I’m down the shore or at another beautiful location in nature, my life will be full professionally and personally. Winter showed me that a new life partner could be part of my future IF I could believe in love and allow myself to be vulnerable one more time.
It’s been a long season of Winter healing my heart, my body and my spirit.
And so, I’m ready for Spring! (I have a good feeling this time the Universe will agree!)
So, Spring is in the air and I’m hopeful…
-I’m excited and prepared to take the NEW action necessary for all that I have planned.
-I’m eager to make new friendships while strengthening those dear to me.
-I’m ready to attack my business and financial goals like a Warrior.
-I’m hopeful that I will find love again.
-I trust that I have the support I need to help me through my amazing Spring season.
-So much is possible and I’m ready to say YES to new opportunities and new adventures.
What life season are you in now? What are you doing to embrace the season with ease? I’m curious.
With love,
Heather
