Tax season is most likely not your favorite time of year. However, I do think this time of year has the potential to be enlightening if you are looking to create a healthier relationship with money.
One of my clients called me the other day to say that she finally GOT it—she finally had her money “ah-hah” moment.” As she was preparing for taxes, she went through all of her bank and credit card statements and discovered exactly how much she spent ordering in food from restaurants for the year. She told me that rather than beat herself up about that large sum, she was excited because this new awareness created an amazing opportunity for her to make some changes with her money flow. She was excited to trim down that one expense so that she could live more abundantly in other areas of her life. She told me that she no longer felt stuck in her money story. Instead, she felt liberated and in control of her money flow.
Unconscious money spending it very common and it might look different for you—clothes, shoes, jewelry, toys for your kids/grandkids, cars, maxing out the credit cards, or vacations you can’t afford—that’s ok. I’m here to help.
Understanding your money flow, the ins and outs of your money dynamics, is one of the first tasks I recommend to my clients regarding the practical side of money. The end of the year or tax time is a wonderful time to dive deep into the flow of your finances. Without judgement, identify how much money was earned and how you chose to spend your money. Were you able to save? What items did you purchase and how did you purchase it—cash or credit? If credit, have you paid the balance off in full? Did you achieve all your money goals or did one (or two) of them fall short? Then, reflect on what you believed to be missing in your life because you didn’t have the finances for it.
Success with the practical side of money and your financial goals becomes easier when you understand the behavioral side of money—your beliefs, emotions and behaviors with money. As a Money Coach, I help people like you create awareness of how and why they spend (or don’t spend) money. Awareness is always the first step to creating change and transformation. From there, we create a visual pathway for you to achieve your financial goals. Once you create a healthier relationship with money, you have the potential to manifest everything in your life you desire—especially the things you believe to be missing.
Did you have any money “ah-hah” moments this year? If so, drop me note. I would love to celebrate your success.
