Clearing space has become one of my beloved routines. It’s a process that began for me more than a decade ago when I finally decided to go through the boxes in my basement. You know, the ones that had moved with me (repeatedly) and yet remained unopened. I discovered a handful of boxes filled with old t-shirts, letters, and crap I hadn’t thought about in years. So, I took a nice trip down memory lane, discarded most, and saved ONE boxful. And today, that “memory lane” is down to the size of a shoebox (for real).
Since then, I have systematically gone through my closets and living spaces at various times during the year. It’s a process that is revisited each year, and one that my kids have even embraced. In fact, when one of my children asks me for the black garbage bag (more like shouts down to me for it from their bedroom), I feel like I must have done something right as a mom.
Clearing space is a transformational tool that I offer it to my clients. In fact, clearing space becomes the transformational journey of letting go, creating space, and then filling the void with something meaningful, joyful, and special. Clearing space is the process of letting go of ideas and belief systems that no longer work. It’s letting go of situations and relationships that no longer work. When we let go of situations, relationships and ideas that are not serving us or enhancing our lives, we make room for new experiences, ideas, things, and people that do.
For me, anytime is a good time to clear space. You may be looking to physically organize your space. Or you may be ready to tackle those situations and relationships that don’t feel right to you anymore. Regardless, working with a life coach may help reduce the overwhelm. Together we would sort through the things that hold you back and work to fill your life with those things that bring you happiness.
When we remove those areas in our life that no longer feel right, we create space for the life we actually want to be living.
Always with love,
Heather
