How you do anything is how you do everything.
Are you someone with a bunch of unfinished projects?
Or do you dive in and keep motivated until completion?
Do you wait for someone else to do the task or pick up your slack?
Do you get part way and give up because, you know, it’s just not worth it (or maybe you think you don’t deserve it)?
Do you keep telling everyone what you’re going to do but then never get anything done?
Do you find your life enjoyable or is every day a chore?
These are all great questions because how we motivate ourselves determines our personal successes—in everything we do. Take note of how you do anything in your life. It just may be how you approach everything—relationships, jobs, goals, daily life tasks, and what you do for fun.
The truth is that most of us have a hard time staying motivated. Many of us choose to do things that don’t feel authentic in the first place. Perhaps you make choices to please family members, impress friends, or because you think others will like you better. Usually these relationships, situations and responsibilities will start to drain and deplete you so that life feels oppressive. Why would you want to stay motivated if you are doing something that doesn’t meet your values or represent who you really are? I know I wouldn’t. Of course, you know you excel and at those tasks and goals that feel authentic. The relationships and situations that feel good are ones you are able to nurture daily. Same here.
Another scenario is that many of us have desires, know what we need to do, and then sabotage our own efforts over and over again. How many times have you started a new diet, exercise program or project with all sorts of energy and excitement, and a week later you have given up? This is normal because you have old belief systems and old scripts in your head that hold you back. These limiting beliefs are common, but they can be modified to serve you better. Life doesn’t have to be this way if you are willing to flip the script and move past these blocks.
One of the things I love about being a professional life coach is watching my clients grow through the struggle and achieve goals that feel authentic for them. Through a partnership with motivated clients, I help each client figure out what an authentic life could look like for them. We determine their own limiting beliefs, and then we work together to unblock them. Often, we use a tool, unique to my coaching training, called The Energy Leadership Index (ELI) assessment. The ELI assessment is a wonderful way for my clients to understand how they show up in the world as leaders (of themselves and others). It provides insight and awareness that we use to optimize many aspects of their life. Remember, how you do anything is how you do everything including relationships, intimacy, careers, and fun. The beauty for me is the process of being witness to my client’s success.
If you or someone you know is curious about how life coaching can help you live more authentically and meaningfully, or you are curious about what the ELI assessment might show for you, please email me. The ELI assessment can be used as a stand alone experience or within a coaching package. I work to create a powerful experience for all my clients. Remember, it never too late to live the life you have always imagined.
Always with love,
Heather
