What excites you? What sets your soul on fire?
For me, it’s TRAVEL.
Travel is something I dream about, talk about, and can Google search for hours. I love everything about it—the planning, the experience, exploring new restaurants, the new adventure, and the afterglow of having lived it.
Travel is my freedom—my happy place. And truthfully, I haven’t done it as much as I’d like, but that has been changing because I believe in creating a life that feels amazing for me.
I sold my house. I sold half my STUFF. I’ve downsized my life and gotten out of debt. Now, I save money every paycheck just for vacation. I’ve learned that supporting my dreams is what it means for me to be happy, feel alive and live truthfully.
This summer I traveled with my son to Moab, UT.
It was hot.
And quiet. (VERY QUIET)
And amazing!!!
The beauty of the red rocks, the Arches, Canyonlands and the Colorado River are forever in my soul. We sat in silence (dead silence) overlooking the canyon, enjoyed a couple of 4×4 jeep guided tours to places many never get to see, learned about the history of the land, and went whitewater rafting along the Colorado River.
Traveling with my son—getting to BE with each other—was even more special. I knew that the opportunity to travel with him was not to be missed, and I’m forever grateful for the time spent together. We both agreed that our best hikes were outside of the national parks—in nature, without the crowds, together.
Once home, choices for my next trip were already in my mind and the Google search had begun. Eventually, pictures of these locations will go on my vision board—I’ll look at them daily KNOWING that one will soon become my next reality. And then one day I’ll book the trip, and I’ll have yet another adventure to share.
My travel list is long, and I’m committed to make my dreams happen. One vacation and one adventure at a time.
What do you want to create for your future? Or your next chapter? What excites you? What can you talk about for hours?
- Collecting motorcycles?
- Animal rescue?
- Writing a book?
- Learning to play guitar? The drums?
- Starting a new business?
- Creating a family?
- Retirement life?
- Relocating?
- Entertaining?
- Spending more quality time with your children and grandchildren?
It’s time to stop dreaming and start doing!
In the words of Andy Dufresne from Shawshank Redemption (one of my favorite quotes and one of my favorite movies),
“It comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”
Always with love,
Heather
